OSCE organizes anti-corruption training course for Kyrgyz officials in Seoul
BISHKEK, 10 February 2014 – An OSCE-supported anti-corruption training course for Kyrgyz government officials in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, began today.
During a one-week course, a group of seven participants from various government bodies will learn about the methodology of corruption analysis and attend lectures on public servant’s ethics. They will also partake in seminars to learn about practical aspects of anti-corruption activities undertaken by South Korean law enforcement agencies.
“I am convinced that a low level of corruption and absence of a shadow economic agenda are factors contributing to South Korea’s overall development,” said the group leader, Temir Dzhumakadyrov, Deputy Secretary of the Kyrgyz Defence Council. “The anti-corruption mechanisms in South Korea are directly linked to the concept of human rights protection. Attending the training course may prove useful for Kyrgyz state officials, since protection of human rights is one of the priorities of anti-corruption activities in the country.”
The visit is organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek with the aim of addressing the issue of corruption in the country.
Yulia Minaeva, Head of the Economic and Environmental Dimension Section of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek said: “The OSCE is strongly committed to continue supporting the Government of Kyrgyzstan in its work to raise overall accountability and integrity in the public and private sectors of the country. I believe that initiatives such as the training visit will help boost our joint effort to combat corruption, promote transparency and strengthen good governance.”
In 2014, under its anti-corruption initiative, the OSCE Centre will facilitate the launch of a government-wide regulatory reform.
