OSCE nominates juries for Bosnia and Herzegovina youth campaign contests
SARAJEVO 30 October 2001
SARAJEVO, 30 October 2001 (OSCE) -- The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina has selected the juries that will review the songs, comics, photos and essays submitted for the "My World - My Bosnia and Herzegovina" competition. The contest is part of the OSCE Youth Campaign aimed at involving youth in the country's civil, economic and political life.
All the jury members are under or about 30 and represent young people from throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The juries will select three submissions in each of the four categories - song, comic, photo and essay - which will then be published on the OSCE Mission website. The selected songs will also be played on radio stations throughout the country. The public will be able to vote for their favourite contest contribution, on the Web or by calling radio stations, and it is their votes which will decide the outcome of the contest.
Bosnia and Herzegovina youth aged 16 to 25 can submit their work until 20 November 2001. The prizes are worth competing for. They include a trip to France with a visit to the Comic Convention 2002, a digital camera, a computer set and - for the winner of the song contest - the professional production of the submitted song.
The OSCE established its present Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 December 1995. In accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP), the OSCE Mission activities are to: promote Democratization and the building of a vibrant civil society, foster the development of professional journalism and monitor the rights of journalists, monitor and advance the Human Rights situation, supervise the conduct of Elections, and encourage Regional Stabilization through arms control and confidence and security-building measures. The OSCE Mission continues to work closely with other international organizations and local institutions to implement the Dayton Peace Accords.
