Uncertified results from Republika Srpska presidency elections now available
SARAJEVO 23 November 2000
SARAJEVO, 23 November 2000 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina today is releasing the final uncertified results for the election of the president and vice president of the Republika Srpska. The results will be available from the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina web site, www.oscebih.org.
Because no candidate won over 50% of the votes on the count of first preferences, the candidate receiving the least number of first preference votes, from the BOSS party, was eliminated, and those votes redistributed to the other candidates according to the second preferences indicated on those ballots.
After the second preferences of BOSS were transferred, the SDS won with 50.1% of the votes. Please see the attached table for further details.
The Provisional Election Commission (PEC) will convene tomorrow, Friday 24 November, to consider technical certification of the election results.

The OSCE established its present Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 December 1995. In accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP), the OSCE Mission activities are to: promote Democratization and the building of a vibrant civil society, foster the development of professional journalism and monitor the rights of journalists, monitor and advance the Human Rights situation, supervise the conduct of Elections, and encourage Regional Stabilization through arms control and confidence and security-building measures. The OSCE Mission continues to work closely with other international organizations and local institutions to implement the Dayton Peace Accords.
