Election commission issues further rulings for regulation violations in Bosnia and Herzegovina
SARAJEVO 5 October 2000
SARAJEVO, 5 October 2000 -The Provisional Election Commission (PEC) has removed the mandates of the following councilors and declared the following general election candidates ineligible to stand for office. They have been found in violation of Articles 7.16 or 108 of the PEC Rules and Regulations, which prohibit illegal occupants from running for or holding office. The following elected municipal councilors and appointed municipal officials are removed for violations of Article 7.16 of the PEC Rules and Regulations governing the April 2000 municipal elections:
1. Mr. Lutvija Sukalo (SDA), municipal councilor and President of Municipal Assembly in Foca/Srbinje
2. Mr. Stevan Ninkovic (SDS), municipal councilor in Bosanska Gradiska/Gradiska
3. Mr. Nijaz Covic (SDA), municipal councilor in Hadzici
Their councilors' mandates have been removed because of their failure to vacate the property they illegally occupied within the deadline stipulated in an administrative decision. In addition, Mr. Sukalo has been removed from his position of President of Municipal Assembly of Foca/Srbinje. The mandates will be allocated to the next candidates on their parties' lists for these respective municipalities. A new President from the same party will be elected by the Municipal Assembly of Foca/Srbinje.
The following candidates for the general elections are removed for violations of Article 108 of the PEC Rules and Regulations governing the November 2000 general elections:
1. Mr. Asif Katica (SDP), candidate for RS National Assembly, Constituency no. 5
2. Ms. Nafija Hodo (SDA), candidate for Cantonal Assembly, Canton Gorazde.
They have been declared ineligible to stand as candidates for the forthcoming general elections due to their failure to vacate property they illegally occupied within the deadline stipulated in an adminsitrative decision. Though their names cannot be removed from the ballots at this date, announcements of their ineligibility to run will be placed in polling stations, as was the practice in previous elections.
