OSCE Mission to BiH signs partnership agreements with entity Associations of Municipalities and Cities
The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina signed partnership agreements with the Associations of Municipalities and Cities (AMC) of the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska on 19 June 2013 that will strengthen the Associations’ co-operation with municipal assemblies and councils, and intensify inter-municipal and inter-institutional co-operation in the country.
The AMCs are bodies that provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices among units of local self-governance and lobby for municipal interests with higher levels of government.
The OSCE Mission has a long standing co-operation with the AMCs. In line with the Associations’ key strategic priorities – to represent and advocate for the interests of local self-government units – the OSCE Mission will now work with the Associations in strengthening support and services to representative bodies at the local level.
The areas of co-operation that are outlined by the partnership agreements were developed together with the AMCs and other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiative is part of the OSCE’s Local Governance Portfolio, which works toward consolidating good governance achievements in the country.
