OSCE Programme Office in Astana supports training of border guard instructors
An OSCE-supported week-long training seminar for the Border Guard Service under the National Security Committee concluded on 9 December 2016 in Astana, Kazakhstan, with the aim of helping officials better communicate with their colleagues and before large audiences.
The event was co-organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana and the United States Embassy in Kazakhstan for some 20 border guards from across the country.
Experts from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Office of Training Global Training Team presented lessons on impromptu speaking, addressing speech anxiety, effective communication skills and the importance of body language in presentations.
The event is part of the Office’s long-standing efforts to build capacity of border security officials in the host country.
