OSCE holds second training seminar for regional judges in Kazakhstan on anti-torture standards
17 October 2016
The OSCE Programme Office in Astana held its second training seminar in 2016 on anti-torture standards for some 30 judges from regional courts on 17 October 2016.
During the event, co-organized by the Academy of Justice under the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, judges were briefed by national experts on the direct application of international anti-torture standards and a human rights-based approach in the administration of justice. Participants reviewed the national legislation and compared with decisions by the UN treaty bodies on individual complaints.
The seminar is part of the Programme Office’s continuous support to criminal justice sector reform in the host country.
