OSCE trains NGO lawyers working with domestic violence victims in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported seminar for lawyers in Kazakhstan working with domestic violence victims was held at the Alatau resort near Almaty from 17 to 19 April 2013.
The seminar was part of the “University for Lawyers 2013” project co-organized by the non-governmental organization Union of Crisis Centres and the OSCE Centre in Astana. It brought together 18 lawyers from 13 different regions of the country and Almaty police officers dealing with protection of women's rights.
The seminar aimed to improve the knowledge and professional skills of lawyers and police officers specializing in the prevention of domestic violence. The training provided by experts, law school professors, judges, and state officials focused on relevant legislation designed to prevent and address the issue.
