Seminar in Turkmenistan focuses on advocacy for women's rights

ASHGABAD, 23 June 2003 - Advocacy for women's rights was the focus of a one-day seminar held in Turkmenistan's capital, Ashgabad, on 20 June.
The legal advisor of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabad presented to the participants at the event a lecture on the international protection of women's right and conducted interactive case-study exercises.
The meeting, which was organized by the American Bar Association's Central and Eastern European Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI) in co-operation with the local Women Resource Centre, was attended by 20 members of civic organizations and state institutions working in the area of women rights, gender issues and advocacy.
Womens' rights is one of the many activity areas where the OSCE Centre and ABA/CEELI combine their efforts to promote the rule of law in Turkmenistan.
