OSCE Presence holds seminars on election reporting ahead of local elections in Albania
A series of training seminars on election reporting, organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania for journalists in four regions of the country, took place in April. The project was implemented ahead of the 8 May local government elections, with the aim of further increasing the quality of media reports, especially outside the capital, during the election campaign, on Election Day and afterwards.
The seminars gave journalists in Shkodra, Fier, Gjirokastra and Korça a better understanding of reporting during the electoral process, how election administration institutions function and how to access election-related information.
The training was delivered by experts Rastislav Kuzel and Ivan Godarsky, both working with MEMO 98, a Slovak non-governmental organization with extensive experience in media monitoring and research. Ana Tenolli, a legal expert working with the Central Election Commission, briefed the participants on the media-related provisions of the Electoral Code.
