OSCE Presence in Albania holds informative meeting on administrative territorial reform
On 23 April 2014, the OSCE Presence in Albania held a meeting where the State Minister for Local Government Issues, Bledi Çuçi, briefed ambassadors of OSCE participating States and representatives of key international institutions in Tirana on the process of administrative territorial reform. The reform was launched by Albania’s government to enable local government units to offer high-quality services to the citizens and better manage human resources.
“This is an important reform for Albania, and it is time for all stakeholders to start participating in the reform process,” the Head of the OSCE Presence, Ambassador Florian Raunig, told media following the meeting.
This was the second meeting of this kind organized by the OSCE Presence. Special focus was on the potential impact of the reform on electoral legislation and administration of elections.
Çuçi said the key focus of the reform would be the administrative and territorial reorganization of Albania, and stressed that the process would be finalized well before the 2015 local elections.
