OSCE Mission to Skopje supports exchange of anti-discrimination best practices

SKOPJE, 26 November 2015 – The exchange of best practices in the area of promotion and protection from discrimination on different grounds, between the national Anti-discrimination Commission and the Austrian Equality Infrastructure, was the focus of today’s OSCE-supported conference in Skopje.
The sessions provided a forum for discussion on the major obstacles to achieve gender equality, as well as challenges in protection from discrimination on ground of disability, age and ethnicity.
“The Mission has been actively supporting the efforts in the area of anti-discrimination, in line with the Ohrid Framework Agreement, and has long been the sole organization to provide capacity building measures in this field,” said Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Marianne Berecz. “We will continue our efforts to strengthen the national anti-discrimination mechanisms in co-operation with all relevant authorities.”
The President of the Anti-discrimination Commission Dushko Minovski said: “Today’s discussion contributed to obtaining new knowledge and ideas for promotion of equality and non-discrimination concept aiming to decrease the discrimination in our country, but also share our best practices with the Austrian colleagues.”
The conference was organized by the national Anti-discrimination Commission, and supported by the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Austrian Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, and Austrian Ombudsman for Equal Treatment.
