Ambassador Tim Guldimann
Tim Guldimann (born 1950) entered the Swiss diplomatic service in 1982; assignments in Bern and Cairo followed. He left the diplomatic service in 1991 and became Head of the Foreign Affairs Division in the Swiss Science Agency within the Ministry of Interior in Bern. In 1995 he took up a professorship at the University of Bern. From 1996 to1997 he acted as
Head of the OSCE Assistance Group in Chechnya in the rank of an Ambassador and was the Head of the OSCE Mission to Croatia from 1997 to 1999.
After re-entering the Swiss diplomatic service, he acted as Swiss Ambassador to Iran from 1999 to 2004; in this capacity, he was also representing U.S. interests in Iran. From 2004 to 2007, he took a sabbatical leave from the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was teaching at the Universities of Frankfurt and Bern as well as at the College of Europe in Bruges and Warsaw. From 2007 to 2008, he was the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo in the rank of an Ambassador and Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Kosovo. He was visiting professor at University of Frankfurt from October to December 2008. He acted as Senior Adviser and Head of the Middle East Project of the Henri Dunant Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva from 2009 to 2010.
Since May 2010, Tim Guldimann has been the Swiss Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin. He was appointed Personal Envoy on Ukraine by the Swiss OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on 24 February 2014.
