The OSCE Mission will support the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in organizing a two-day Mini-Olympics for some 450 children with disabilities, their parents, security providers and other Kosovo institutions.
The Mini-Olympics is an annual event organized to help raise awareness of the local institutions and Kosovo society about children with special needs. The overarching aim is to help their integration into society and to build trust between children and the public safety providers.
Children will have the opportunity to show their skills and talents in several sports including a wheelchair run, basketball, handball and chess.
The OSCE Mission is helping to develop the public safety sector, including in the field of community policing. It has been organizing the Mini-Olympics since 2005 and this year’s event is the eighth in a row.
