OSCE Kosovo mission head congratulates new Kosovo president

PRISTINA, 10 February 2006 - Ambassador Werner Wnendt, Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, today sent a letter to President Fatmir Sejdiu, congratulating him upon his election.

"I have the honour to congratulate you, on behalf of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, upon your election as president of Kosovo. Following the tragic death of President Rugova, it is heartening to see the strong sense of purpose demonstrated by Kosovo Assembly Members in electing you today," Wnendt said in the letter.

"The OSCE Mission in Kosovo stands ready to assist you in fulfilling your duties as president of Kosovo and guarantor of the democratic functioning of the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government. I wish you every success in fulfilling the great responsibilities of your new position, and trust that you will be a president for all the people of Kosovo."
