OSCE media freedom representative condemns attack on journalist in Croatia
VIENNA, 13 August 2014 – OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović today condemned a physical attack against Domagoj Margetić, a Croatian journalist, on 11 August.
“Violence against journalists is unacceptable and should be treated as an attack against society as a whole. Journalists’ safety must be ensured in order for members of the media to do their work,” Mijatović said.
Margetić was attacked by several individuals close to his home in Zagreb on the evening of 11 August and sustained head injuries as a result of the attack.
“I welcome the condemnation of this attack by the Croatian journalists' association and call on the Croatian authorities to swiftly investigate it and determine if it is connected with his journalistic activities,” Mijatović said.
