This is a series of training seminars for members of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) against torture aimed to increase the capacity of NPM members throughout the country as well as to raise awareness of relevant government structures on the main principles of NPM functions in practice.
Participants will study the international and national legal framework, best practices of NPMs in other countries and discuss the key challenges in fulfilling and monitoring activities in Kazakhstan.
The training seminars will take place in Atyrau (12-13 May), Almaty (14-15 May), Ust-Kamenogorsk (18-19 May) and Astana (20-21 May).
The series is part of the Programme Office's long-term efforts in establishing and promoting the NPM and the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against torture in Kazakhstan.
