The conference
Since its establishment thirty years ago, ODIHR has assumed a leading role in the OSCE region in supporting states to strengthen their democratic institutions and respect for human rights, the rule of law as well as creating a platform for civil society to interact with national authorities, ensuring their voice is heard. ODIHR’s unique mandate stems from the commitments made by every OSCE state, and this continues to be the basis of all its work.
On the thirtieth anniversary of its establishment, ODIHR is convening a two-day conference to mark the many achievements of the last three decades, consider current challenges and opportunities, and discuss the Office’s role in continuing to help find solutions and promote democracy and human rights in the future. The conference will also allow participants to share experiences and exchange best practices, including new practices during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected every person in every country across the region.
ODIHR is grateful for the support of the Swedish Chairpersonship in the concept and organisation of the conference, as well as of Poland, the Office’s host country.
