OSCE Head of Mission to Moldova welcomes agreement on environmental co-operation between Moldova, Transdniestria
CHISINAU, 26 July 2013 – Today the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova welcomed the signature of the joint action plan on preservation of natural resources between the co-chairs of the expert working group on agriculture and environmental issues, Viorel Gutu and Yurii Ursul.
Expert working groups were created in 2008 to address practical issues related to people’s daily lives on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River.
“I’m very pleased to see that the agreement on environmental co-operation was signed. I would like to encourage the rest of the working groups to do the same and work together to reach more progress in areas such as telecommunication, transportation, education and law enforcement,” Ambassador Jennifer Brush said.
The signature of the joint action plan on preservation of natural resources took place yesterday in Chisinau at the OSCE Mission to Moldova. It is the follow-up to the protocol decision signed in Vienna last week during the 5+2 negotiations by the political representatives of Moldova and Transdniestria.
The OSCE Mission facilitates meetings of the expert groups as part of efforts to promote confidence-building.
