Swiss contribution to Kosovo news agency
PRISTINA 14 April 2000
PRISTINA, 14 April 2000 - The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is pleased to announce that the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs will contribute EUR 100,000 to the establishment of a news agency for Kosovo, to be known as KosovoLive. Ambassador Marianne von Grünigen, Head of the Swiss Delegation to the OSCE in Vienna, presented the Swiss contribution during her visit to Pristina on 12 and 13 April.
KosovoLive is an independent source of reliable news that can be shared by all Kosovo media - print, radio and television. Its principle focus will be "news you can use" from and about the regions beyond Pristina. KosovoLive will offer English and Albanian language editions and is being developed by the Zeri media group under the editorial direction of publisher Blerim Shala.
The generous Swiss contribution has encouraged other leading international donors to join the consortium supporting the news agency.
KosovoLive is expected to begin editorial operations in late spring.
