OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir condemns attack on Ekho Moskvy journalist
PALERMO, Italy, 23 October 2017 – The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir condemned the attack today on Tatyana Felgenhauer, Deputy Editor and presenter at Echo Moskvy radio station.
“I condemn this horrific attack on a journalist and call on the authorities to bring the perpetrator to justice," Désir said. "I note that the attacker has been apprehended and welcome the criminal investigation that has already been launched.”
According to reports, Felgenhauer was stabbed in the neck at the Ekho Moskvy studio in central Moscow and taken to hospital in serious condition today. A criminal case has reportedly been launched on charges of attempted murder.
“I trust that the ongoing investigation by the authorities will be held in a swift and thorough manner. Violence against journalists must not be tolerated,” Désir said.
